Creating Playful Experiences

The initial 12 years of a child’s life are extremely crucial to the primary development of both physical & mental capacities. Of this, the period between 3-8 years is very sensitive as rapid changes happen in the child’s cognitive abilities, thinking skills and learning potential. These changes are not passive procedures, even though they can develop on their own to an extent. However, they need to be actively stimulated and worked upon to ensure full development.

Experience is the teacher of everything

Creating the right experiences for a child’s mental abilities development during this phase is extremely important before the child enters into the next stage of schooling years. This is the age where the child develops the ability to ‘think how to think’ and develops all the necessary prerequisite skills needed to ‘learn how to learn.’

The next band of 8-12 years is where the child starts experimenting with self-thinking abilities. The child wants to explore the relationship and impact of cognitive thinking on emotional and social structures. Hence, a correct formation of cognitive fundamentals during the age of 3-8 years, followed by simulation of emotional and social situations that a child may encounter during the age of 8-12 years, enables children to apply the learnt cognitive processes in the academic and social and emotional contexts of a real-life environment.

Board Games, Theater, Dance, etc are a few of the many disciplines to engage children experientially. When children participate in any such engagements, it gives shape to their overall development. The educational toys designed specifically to encourage certain basic logic, reasoning, and creative concepts have proven to work for ages. In recent years, the importance of using educational games, thinking games, or mind games in the development of children has become essential to promote the growth of healthy brain functioning.

With the majority of young people suffering from various issues like anxiety, depression, and attention deficit, the researchers are increasingly advocating the role of parents in creating more and more opportunities for playful experiences at home with their children. It is proving to be the best method to have a happy and healthy future for children.

Such experiences at home provide a platform to the children for communicating, verbalising & expressing one’s self. This also gives children the opportunity to learn to bond together, engage in physical settings with each other, work together, develop tolerance and empathy. This helps them to see the world from different perspectives, and promotes active learning, enriching and reinforcing the value of experiences had together as a family.

We are a pioneer in using game-based learning for developing 21st-century skills, enabling children to think 'How to Think' and learn 'How to Learn.'
